Tyla A*Pop Tracklist Announcement: Singer Gets Creative

Tyla is almost ready to drop her highly anticipated new music. Specifically, the “Water” singer recently revealed the Tyla A*Pop tracklist on Wednesday, July 15. Fans are incredibly excited ahead of the album’s arrival on July 24.

Instead of a typical social media post, the South African artist got very creative to showcase her new songs.

A Fluorescent Tracklist Reveal

She headed to a cool blacklight room to make the massive announcement. Next, she spray-painted each song title directly onto the walls using bright fluorescent colors. Meanwhile, her hit Zara Larsson collaboration, “She Did It Again,” provided the perfect soundtrack for the video.

The upcoming album features 14 tracks. Furthermore, it boasts previously released singles including “Chanel,” “Is It,” “Is It Love,” and “She Did It Again.”

Additionally, fans can expect several exciting new songs. The revealed tracklist includes titles like “That Girl,” “Kiss,” “Fairytale,” “Mr. Nonchalant,” and “Hot Tubs.”

Blending African Music and Pop

Her hit single “Chanel” originally arrived in October as the project’s lead single. Consequently, it reached No. 43 on the Billboard Hot 100 and eventually topped the Rhythmic Airplay chart in March. Similarly, “She Did It Again” successfully peaked at No. 59 on the Hot 100.

Tyla spoke to Billboard Africa earlier in July about the deeper meaning behind the album. Specifically, she explained how she looks to mesh the worlds of African music and traditional pop.

“A*Pop is just something that came to me. It just makes so much sense,” she stated. “I’ve always wanted to be this pop star.”

Redefining the Pop Star Image

However, she admitted she hates being restricted, limited, or overly polished. “For a long time, I felt like I had to be something in order to be a pop star,” she confessed. “I bring the A to pop. It’s African pop; African music is pop music.”

The new album serves as the highly anticipated follow-up to her 2024 self-titled debut. That project successfully debuted at No. 24 on the Billboard 200.

Additionally, Tyla also dove into the movie world this year. In June, she made her voice-acting debut in Toy Story 5 as an inflatable flamingo.
