Lil Wayne is officially entering the podcast space. Specifically, Weezy will be teaming up with WFAN radio host Craig Carton. Together, they will host The Joint Venture, which airs weekly episodes starting on July 22.
The New Orleans rap legend and Carton are set to record their very first episode soon. Specifically, they will host a live podcast taping at Fanatics Fest NYC on Sunday, July 19.
Furthermore, the live show will feature several high-profile guests. Former New York Jets star Darrelle Revis and ex-New York Knicks forward Amar’e Stoudemire will attend. Additionally, New York Giants Super Bowl-winning quarterback Eli Manning will join the exciting conversation.
“The best podcasts feel like you just kicking it with your people,” Wayne explained in a recent statement. He previously hosted Young Money Radio on Apple Music. “I’ma light one up with the homie Craig and we gonna talk our sh-t about whatever the day brings.”
Wayne and Carton might seem like an unlikely duo to some fans. However, the pair have actually been close friends for many years. Because Weezy is a massive sports fan, he can talk sports just as easily as he raps.
In fact, Carton recently called him the “biggest sports fan” he knows. “There’s nothing better than swapping takes with Wayne on sports, pop culture, and a whole host of other topics,” Carton added. Ultimately, he views the new podcast as a great excuse to keep doing what they already love doing.
Before heading to Fanatics Fest NYC, Lil Wayne will continue his massive tour. Specifically, he is celebrating 20 years of Tha Carter with a Friday show in Chicago. Meanwhile, his latest album, Tha Carter VI, successfully debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 last June.
