Black Sabbath legend Bill Ward just shared a major update with his fans. First, he posted a heartfelt message on Instagram this week. Specifically, the news involves a new Bill Ward wheelchair announcement. However, he wants everyone to know he is still living like a rock star.

The 78-year-old musician revealed he now uses a wheelchair during public outings. For example, he needs it mostly in airports and crowded public events. Fortunately, he can still walk on his own. Yet, he cannot walk very far without needing to rest and sit down.
Ward explained that he started using the chair occasionally about 18 months ago. Since then, he has relied on it more after his 78th birthday last May. Despite this, his passion for music remains incredibly strong. “I can still play pretty good for 78 years old,” the drummer proudly stated.
Furthermore, his ambition to play drums is just as fierce as it was decades ago. Therefore, he asked fans not to assume he is ill or retiring just because he uses a mobility aid. Instead, he simply needs a ride to conserve his energy. Ultimately, he promised to remain transparent and keep rocking forever.

This emotional update comes about one year after a historic reunion. Previously, Ward rejoined Black Sabbath for frontman Ozzy Osbourne’s final farewell concert in Birmingham. Sadly, Osbourne passed away just two weeks later at age 76.
In fact, Ward posted a beautiful tribute following Ozzy’s death. Now, he continues to honor the band’s massive legacy while prioritizing his health.
