Chris Brown Lawsuit Settled: Assault Victim Drops Civil Case

Chris Brown lawsuit settled with Abe Diaw. Diaw had accused the singer of hitting him with a bottle in London in 2023. Diaw has now filed to dismiss the lawsuit. This dismissal is “with prejudice.” This means the lawsuit cannot be filed again. Such a move often indicates a settlement between parties.

Neither Brown nor Diaw has commented on the end of the lawsuit. However, the “With You” singer still faces criminal charges for the same event. Brown was arrested in May in Manchester, England. He was charged with grievous bodily harm with intent. This charge relates to the incident in a London nightclub in 2023.

He was first denied bail. He remained in custody until June 13. This was just two days before his Breezy Bowl tour was to start in the same city. Later, the judge changed their mind. They agreed to release Brown if he paid almost $7 million in bail money. Brown must follow strict rules as part of his release.

Bail Conditions and Incident Details

Besides the large bail sum, Brown must live at a UK address until his trial. He also has to give his passport to authorities. Still, he can travel internationally for his tour. This allows him to continue his scheduled performances.

In his initial lawsuit, Diaw claimed Brown had caused “severe and lasting injuries.” He alleged Brown “beat him over the head” with a bottle of tequila. Brown was also accused of “ruthlessly” stomping on Diaw’s head while he was unconscious. CCTV cameras captured the incident. Prosecutors now have this footage. They describe the situation as “extremely serious.”

Diaw further claimed Brown spread “false rumors” about him after the alleged attack. Brown later mentioned his arrest during a show in Manchester. He thanked the prison where he was held. He said, “I just want to tell you all, I love you all to death, I am so thankful that I could come out here tonight. Thank you all for having me and supporting me and thank you to the jail, y’all was really nice.” The ongoing criminal case, even after the civil Chris Brown lawsuit settled, keeps the matter in the public eye.
