SZA recently revealed that one of her visual projects got a little out of hand. First, the R&B hitmaker posted an unfinished draft of a music video on Friday, July 10. Specifically, the clip was for her track “Scorsese Baby Daddy.” However, she admitted that she delayed finishing the project because the freaky concept actually “scares” her.

In the wild snippet, a figure appearing to be SZA dances in a gym. Interestingly, it is hard to tell for sure because alien-like prosthetics completely alter her face.
Next, the singer sports bobbing antennae and grinds alongside other extraterrestrial beings. Meanwhile, everyone in the scene wears 1980s-style workout leotards. As the visual plays, she sings the track’s edgy lyrics about spiraling out and crashing out.
Additionally, SZA captioned the post by calling it one of her many unfinished drafts. She also tagged the video’s director, Bradley J. Calder.
The song “Scorsese Baby Daddy” originally dropped well over a year ago. In fact, it arrived as part of the SOS Deluxe: LANA album in December 2024. The popular track eventually peaked at No. 41 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Therefore, fans naturally wondered why the video took so long. In the comments section, SZA finally explained the massive delay. “When ur own concept scares u too much n s–t start warping in the edit room,” she wrote. “Yall don’t understand.”

Fortunately, the singer might reconsider finishing the project. After all, her followers absolutely loved the freaky aesthetic in the comments. Consequently, she later posted on her Story that she told her director they need to finish the video.
Recently, the Grammy winner has stayed incredibly busy. She participated in a moving Lauryn Hill tribute at the 2026 BET Awards in June. Furthermore, she guested on Steve Lacy’s latest track and contributed to Pixar’s Hoppers soundtrack.
Ultimately, fans hope SZA will conquer her fears and release the full alien-themed video.
