Kendrick Lamar Shatters Hip-Hop Chart Records with “Luther” and Grand National Tour Success

Kendrick Lamar just made history in hip-hop. He broke the record for how long a song can stay at the top of the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Chart. His popular song with SZA, called “Luther,” has been number one for a huge 23 weeks. This beats his own old record from his song “Not Like Us.”

Kendrick Lamar and SZA are clearly at the top of this chart. Together, they hold the top three spots for the longest-running number one songs ever. SZA’s song “Kill Bill” was number one for 21 weeks in 2022 and 2023. Even though “Luther” already broke the record, many people think it will stay number one for even more weeks. This chart success comes after “Luther” was also number one on the Billboard Hot 100 for a great thirteen weeks last month.

Kendrick Lamar’s Big Wins on Tour

Kendrick Lamar is not just breaking records with his songs. He’s also setting new records with his live shows. Recently, his “Grand National Tour” stop in Seattle with SZA made a huge $14.8 million. This big win means Lamar is the first rapper ever to make more than $14 million from just one concert. This show in Seattle also had the most fans, with almost 61,000 excited people coming to watch.

Lamar beat his own old record with this. Before, he made a huge $11.822 million at a show in Dallas. That Dallas concert also made Lamar the Black man in history who made the most money from one live show. He beat The Weeknd’s record of $9.8 million from a 2022 concert. The “Grand National Tour” started strong too. Its first show in Minneapolis made over $9.1 million from more than 47,000 fans. Each ticket cost about $192.70 on average, according to Touring Data.

“Not Like Us” Makes Big Chart History

Lamar is breaking records in more ways than just his live shows. His very popular diss song, “Not Like Us,” recently made history. It was the first rap song ever to stay on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for a full year. The song stayed on the chart for a great 52 weeks before it finally left last month. This shows it was a huge hit that everyone knew.
