NFL Star Odell Beckham Jr. Demands Chris Brown’s Release From UK Jail Over Assault Case

R&B singer Chris Brown is currently in a UK jail after being arrested in Manchester on May 16. Brown is being held without bail due to a past assault case. He will stay in custody until at least June 13, when his next court hearing is set.

Brown was arrested just hours after landing in the UK for his Breezy Bowl tour, which is supposed to start on June 15. It’s unclear whether the legal trouble will delay or cancel his tour. Brown and his team have not made any public comments yet.

The arrest is connected to an incident in 2023. Brown is accused of attacking music producer Abe Diaw at Tape nightclub in London. Diaw says Brown hit him in the head with a bottle of tequila and then stomped on him while he was on the ground, knocking him out. The Guardian reported that the nightclub’s CCTV footage backs up the claims. Prosecutors say the case is “extremely serious.”

The alleged victim also accused Brown of spreading false rumors about him after the attack. Diaw filed a lawsuit in 2023 for the injuries he says he suffered. It is not yet known if the lawsuit was settled.

At the time of the alleged attack, Brown left the UK before police could question him. Now that he’s back, he has finally been arrested.

The arrest drew a quick reaction from NFL superstar Odell Beckham Jr. The Baltimore Ravens wide receiver posted a picture of himself with Brown on Instagram with the caption, “Free Breeeezyyy.” He added, “The moral compass will never lie… we waiting on ya.” The post sparked mixed reactions from fans online. Some supported Beckham’s message, while others said it was wrong to defend someone facing such serious charges.

Chris Brown has a long history of legal trouble. He was banned from entering the UK after being convicted for assaulting Rihanna in 2009. That ban lasted more than 10 years. It was only lifted in 2020 by former UK Home Secretary Priti Patel. Read more about that here.

Many fans are now wondering if Brown’s past behavior is catching up with him. While some celebrities, like Beckham Jr., stand by him, others are staying quiet.

As of now, Chris Brown remains in jail. His next court date is set for June 13. Until then, his future in the UK and on tour remains uncertain.
