Yung Miami defends Diddy support letter in a new radio interview. The former City Girls rapper is speaking out about a very tough choice. She wrote a letter to a judge to support her ex-boyfriend, Diddy, after his big trial. Now, she is explaining why she did it.
She went on The Breakfast Club radio show on Tuesday, March 24. She told host Charlamagne Tha God that Diddy was a “changed man” when they dated from 2021 to 2023.
“I can only speak to the person that I met,” Miami said. “If I met this person that changed my life, that helped me grow, that treated me like a queen… I can only judge who I met.”
Diddy went to prison for four years in October. A jury found him guilty of moving sex workers across state lines for his parties. Before the judge gave him this sentence, Yung Miami wrote a letter asking for mercy. She wrote that Diddy was “not a danger” to the public.
However, many critics point out a huge flaw in her logic. Treating one person well does not erase the crimes committed against other people. A good relationship with a new girlfriend does not change the facts of a criminal trial.
Because of her choice to support him, Yung Miami lost brand deals and many fans. While other female rap stars are celebrating huge, positive career moves—like the recent Megan Thee Stallion Broadway Debut—Miami is dealing with heavy backlash. Still, she stands by her letter.
She explained that she had to step back from the relationship when the bad news came out, but she still cares for him. “I can love this person, but I can love this person from a distance,” she explained. She said she had to do what made sense for her own life. This event shows how messy things get when celebrities defend friends who do bad things.
